It’s a well-known fact: virtual meetings have become the mainstay of modern business communication! Now more than ever, businesses want to facilitate their interactions and put all participants on an equal footing, wherever they are!
Poly, a leader in communication solutions, has recently rolled out major updates to its Studio X video bars, incorporating 3 innovative features: Poly DirectorAI Perimeter, People & Speaker Framing and Sound Reflection Reduction!
Specifications, benefits and configuration: here we take a closer look at these 3 state-of-the-art modules and examine the impact they have on our overall video experience.
Poly DirectorAI Perimeter: Redefine virtual staging!
To locate and track participants in space, your Poly Studio X system uses the area visible to the camera. The problem is that this framing doesn’t necessarily correspond to what you want to show… Let’s explain: if your room has glass walls, the people in the corridor will be visible to the camera. On its own, the camera is not capable of knowing that these external elements should not be included in the frame…
This is where the DirectorAI Perimeter function really comes into its own! With DirectorAI Perimeter, YOU are the leader of the team! You enter the dimensions of your conference room or a specific perimeter, and the camera will focus solely on this area, regardless of the comings and goings of the participants!
Good to know: with the latest Poly OS update, distance estimation has been improved, for more accurate measurements!
How do you activate it?

- In the device’s web interface, go to Audio/Video > Video inputs
- Select ‘Enable’ to activate Poly DirectorAI Perimeter
- In the drop-down menu, choose the measurement option to be used (metres or feet)
- Enter the desired framing dimensions (width + depth)
- Click ‘Save’ to save!
People & Speaker Framing: Putting People at the Center of Virtual Communication!
People Framing is changing the game for how participants are shown in video calls! It recognizes up to six people in the meeting room and zooms in to display each person in their own frame. The frames can be shown in two ways: in portrait mode (one row of frames) or mixed mode (up to five frames displayed), depending on how many participants are present. If someone moves, the camera adjusts the view to keep them in focus! *For more than 6 people, Group Framing takes over, displaying all the participants in a single frame! Speaker Framing is another great feature from Poly that identifies who is speaking. When a participant starts talking, the camera automatically focuses on them and follows their movements in the room. Speaker Framing is the technology developed by Poly that enables the camera to determine which participant is speaking. Once identified, the camera adjusts the shot according to the speaker and his or her movements in the room. Did you know? As well as being integrated into the Studio X range of video bars, the Speaker Framing module is available on the Poly Studio E70 (under Zoom Rooms Windows)!
How do you activate it?

- In the device’s web interface, go to Audio/Video > Video Inputs
- In the ‘Tracking Mode’ drop-down menu, select People or Speaker Framing
- Click ‘Save’ to save!
Pro tip: Get better results on X30 and X50 video bars by selecting ‘Conference Mode’.
Sound Reflection Reduction: Eliminate all noise distractions!
Noise is a real scourge in virtual meetings… Whether low or high, it can have a serious impact on the effectiveness of discussions and the morale of participants… That’s where Poly’s Sound Reflection Reduction comes in. This advanced technology uses sophisticated algorithms to reduce audio reverberation caused by external environmental factors. In other words, it creates a “healthy” sound zone, devoid of distracting external sounds! What’s more, thanks to this technology, you no longer need to buy expensive/complex microphone arrays to enjoy the optimum sound!
How do you activate it?

- In the device’s web interface, go to Audio/Video > Audio > NoiseBlockAI Options
- In the drop-down menu, select ‘Sound Reflection Reduction’.
- Click on ‘Save’ to save!
So as you see: with the introduction of DirectorAI Perimeter, People & Speaker Framing and Sound Reflection Reduction, Poly Studio X systems have reached new heights!
More immersive and engaging virtual meetings: with Poly, communicating remotely has never been so effective!
