What are Handset Lifters and Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) Cables?
● Both handset lifters and EHS cables are used in conjunction with wireless headsets.
● You need either a handset lifter or an EHS cable, you do not need both
● A handset lifter automates the whole sequence of answering an incoming call.
What benefits do they provide?
● They give you the ability to answer calls away from your desk.
● You will hear a beep with every incoming call. This means no more missed calls.
● As handset lifters connect to your Bluetooth headset, you can answer calls anywhere in the office.
● The handset lifter responds to a call being hung up on your Bluetooth headset.
● The use of a traditional handset can lead to poor posture, causing neck and back pain.
What is the difference between Handset Lifters and Electronic Hook Switch Cables?
● Electronic Hook Switch for remote desk phone call control (answer/end). This cable eliminates the need for a HL10 Handset Lifter.
● The EHS cable is for newer, more sophisticated phones that have a headset port built into them.
● The newer technology that most people are going with is the EHS cable, because it is a neater set-up and plugs directly into the circuit board so that you do not have the mechanical raising and lowering of the handset lifter.
● Some newer phones have the EHS built in – no need for the cable.
What should I look out for?
● Pay attention to the style or shape of the phone – if it is on a slant or has a curve, the handset lifter may fall off when in use.
