Winter Sports Walkie-talkies: What to look out for?
Walkie-talkies for winter sports
Walkie-talkies are undoubtedly the most reliable ways to communicate in the snow. Whether during your mountain activities or doing other sports such as skiing or snowboarding. These devices guarantee coverage, free communications, and safety. Indeed, this ensures that you constantly stay in touch with others, wherever you are.
Walkie-talkies will feature exceptionally clear audio so that you don’t have to repeat yourself in difficult conditions. In addition, walkie-talkies come with easily accessible buttons such as the SOS button, or the torch.
Outdoor-fitted walkie-talkies
Moreover, walkie-talkies for skiing will prevent you from worrying about falls or moisture. Unlike when we try to communicate with our smartphones, these walkie-talkies are equipped with rugged casings. They will survive drops, bumps, and water. Highly resistant and easy-to-use, these walkie-talkies come in licensed or licensed free.
In this article, we list the most important features so that you can make the ideal choice for your winter sports walkie-talkies.
Are you looking for a way to contact someone in case of danger?
We take your safety very seriously and that is why you should be fully secured in the mountains. You also need to be aware of the danger of going out of track. Mountain dweller or not, you never know where the danger will come from. Come prepared with a long-range walkie-talkie enabling you to contact someone up to 25 km range. Additionally, the SOS button option will allow rescuers to find you.
Are you looking for a way to reach out to the people near you?
Working as an instructor, a patroller, or a rescue, walkie-talkies allow you to reach out to someone located within your range. With a long battery charge and high resistance to any weather condition and environment, walkie-talkies guarantee long-term use. The more channels you have access to, the easier you will transmit your message to the largest number of people.

Emergency functions
Skiing involves risks, so it is useful to have the ability to call for help or stay in touch with fellow skiers. Therefore, the emergency functions of a walkie-talkie are crucial. Most have an emergency button or standard function. The SOS button is a continuous distress signal sent to all other walkie-talkies at the same frequency, followed by direct voice transmission.
Group calls
Walkie-talkies, like mobile phones, also support group calls. This feature allows you to send a message through the walkie-talkie, to several other walkie-talkies at the same time. Besides, you also have the option to add or exclude users from a group call, or simply communicate with one person.
Vox Function
The Vox function is perhaps the most useful feature of a walkie-talkie for skiing. In fact, the VOX (voice over call) function allows you to send a message without having to press the PTT (push to talk) button. Messages are sent automatically when the user starts talking, allowing hands-free communication on the slopes. This also ensures that your hands are not frozen by the cold.
Communicating via an earpiece
Most walkie-talkie sets come with earpieces. While skiing, you can use earpieces in combination with the VOX function. By clipping the device to your belt or trousers and plugging in earpieces, you can continue to communicate without having to press a button if the VOX function is activated. An earpiece also ensures discretion on the slopes.
